Where To Walk?

06 Jul

Korea is not known as the safest country in the world to live or work in. Personal safety is sometimes taken for granted as is the safety of others. I’ve seen many kids crammed in the back of car, not wearing a seatbelt or hanging half out the window. It’s just what happens here. Same goes for construction work. This thread is not about the lack of safety precautions for the workers but for the everyday people. This road last year when I first arrived in Mokpo was a tennis court that was used by older Koreans every morning. Around April of last year, the Koreans stopped coming and everything was torn down and left until this year when it was turned into a road. I would always use the sidewalk right beside the court to walk to school. The sidewalk gave way to build the road. To walk, you have to walk on the busy road and hope the cars stay over and don’t come too close to you. This video was filmed one month ago and there is now a sidewalk. For a while this was the only way to walk. Dangerous and stupid.
